Is unlocking your phone legal?
Well, the truth of the matter is that unlocking your iPhone probably isn’t going to get you in any trouble, as long you’re only doing it for your own personal benefit and not doing it to sell phones on eBay. Just be aware of the risks and pick your unlocking software wisely and keep in mind that you will probably, by unlocking your iPhone, have trashed your warranty, and that, Apple may well stop supporting your phone. It would be safe to assume that by unlocking and jail breaking your phone, Apple would probably consider this a breach of the product warranty. It may be legal to unlock your phone however, but that doesn’t mean that it can’t void the warranty.
If in doubt consult your phone supplier.
